How to Check the Version Number of Your Browser:

To check the version number of your browser on the Mac (with the browser running), select the Apple Chooser menu and Select About [Internet Explorer or Netscape].

To check the version number of your browser under Windows, select Help, About [Internet Explorer or Netscape].


How to change your browser's cookies settings:

Follow the steps below for your browser, to enable the cookies.

Internet Explorer 6.0

  1. Click on the Tools-menu in Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the Internet Options item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on the Privacy tab near the top of the window.
  4. Move the slider so that is on one of the levels below Medium High (including Medium, Low, Accept All Cookies
  5. Save changes by clicking Ok

Internet Explorer 5.0/5.5

  1. Click on the Tools-menu in Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the Internet Options item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on the Security tab near the top of the window.
  4. Click on the Custom Level... button near the bottom of the window
  5. Scroll down to Cookies in the new dialog, and set both "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and "Allow per-session cookies to Enable.
  6. Save changes by clicking Ok

Netscape 7.x

  1. Click on the Edit-menu in Netscape
  2. Click on the Preferences... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Expand the Privacy & Security selection in the left part of the window.
  4. Click on the Cookies selection.
  5. Under Cookie Acceptance Policy - either check the Enable all cookies checkbox or Allow cookies based on policy settings.
  6. If Allow cookies based on policy settings is selected, click on View and ensure that the level is at low or medium.
  7. Save changes by clicking Ok

Netscape 6.x

  1. Click on the Edit-menu in Netscape
  2. Click on the Preferences... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Expand the Advanced selection in the left part of the window.
  4. Click on the Cookies selection.
  5. Check the Enable all cookies setting
  6. Save changes by clicking Ok

Safari

  1. Click on the Safari-menu in Safari
  2. Click on the Preferences... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on the Security icon near the top of the window.
  4. Under Accept Cookies the Always or Only from sites you navigate to must be selected.
  5. Save changes by clicking Ok

Lynx

  1. Press O for Options
  2. Look for General Preferences and Cookies (!)
  3. Set it to either ask user or accept all (more convenient)
  4. Save changes by selecting Accept Changes

Konqueror

  1. Click on the Settings-menu in Konqueror
  2. Click on the Configure Konqueror... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on Cookies on the left side (you might have to scroll first)
  4. Set Accept all cookies by default
  5. Save changes by clicking Ok

Opera

  1. Click on the Tools-menu in Opera
  2. Click on the Preferences... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on the Privacy selection near the bottom left of the window.
  4. The Enable cookies checkbox must be checked, and Accept all cookies should be selected in the "Normal coookies" drop-down.
  5. Save changes by clicking Ok

Mozilla Firefox/Suite

  1. Click on the Tools-menu in Mozilla
  2. Click on the Options... item in the menu - a new window opens
  3. Click on the Privacy selection in the left part of the window.
  4. Expand the Cookies section.
  5. Check the Enable cookies and Accept cookies normally checkboxes.
  6. Save changes by clicking Ok

Netscape 4.x -- How to Check and Change Your JavaScript Settings

1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
2. Select Advanced.
3. Make sure that Enable JavaScript is clicked on.
4. Click OK.

Netscape 6.x -- How to Check and Change Your JavaScript Settings
1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
2. Click Advanced and make sure Enable Java and Enable JavaScript for Navigator are selected. Click OK.

Netscape 7 -- How to Check and Change Your JavaScript Settings
1. Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
2. Click Advanced and make sure Enable Java is selected. Under the Scripts & Plugins menu make sure Enable JavaScript for Navigator is selected. Click OK.

Internet Explorer 4.x -- How to Check and Change Your JavaScript Settings
1. From the View menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab. Under "Internet Zone" select the Custom radial and then click on the Settings button.
3. Under Scripting, make sure Scripting of Java applets and Active Scripting are Enabled.
4. Click OK (and Yes to any warning windows).

Internet Explorer 5.x and 6.x -- How to Check and Change Your JavaScript Settings
1. In Internet Explorer, from the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Then click the Security tab. Click the Custom Level button.
3. From the Security Settings, scroll down to the Scripting settings, make sure Active scripting, Allow paste operations via script, and Scripting of Java applets are on by clicking the Enable radial for each setting.
4. Click OK to approve this change (and Yes to any warning windows) and OK again to leave the Internet Options area.

Netscape 4.x -- How to Check and Change Your SSL Settings
1. From the Communicator menu, click Tools and select Security Info.
2. From the menu, select Navigator.
3. From the Navigator menu, make sure the SSL settings are turned on.

Netscape 6 and above -- How to Check and Change Your SSL Settings
1. From the Communicator menu, click Tools and select Preferences.
2. From the Preferences menu, click on the triangle to open (expand) the Privacy & Security menu and click SSL.
3. Make sure SSL version 2 and SSL version 3 are checked.

Internet Explorer 4.x and above -- How to Check and Change Your SSL Settings
1. From the View menu, click Internet Options.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Make sure SSL 3.0 and SSL 2.0 are selected.
4. Click OK.

3. Make sure Accept all images is selected.

1. From the View menu, click Internet Options.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Make sure that Show pictures is selected.
4. Click OK.
